In this article, you will use a Bluetooth connection to print badges from your Brother QL-820NWB printer. 


Important: You can pair only one Bluetooth device at a time with the QL-820NWB printer.


Pair the Printer with your iPad

Use the following procedure to pair the printer with your iPad.

  1. On the printer, press the Menu button.
  2. Press the up arrow or the down arrow and select the Bluetooth menu.  
  3. Press the OK button.
  4. Press the up arrow or the down arrow to select Bluetooth(On/Off), then press the OK button.
  5. Press the up arrow or the down arrow to select On, then press OK button. 


Note: If the printer is currently on the settings screen, the printer won’t work. 

Press the back arrow to return the printer to the main screen before you attempt to print. 

  1. From the home screen tap Settings, and then tap Bluetooth.

  2. Slide the toggle to the ON position.

  3. Select the QL-820NWB from the list, and if required, enter the passkey (PIN code).

The printer should now be available for selection in the Printer settings of the Check-In Kiosk application under the Search Bluetooth Printers option.


Note: To ensure you connect to the correct printer, find the name in the printer settings:

  1. On the printer, press the Menu button. 
  2. Press the up arrow or down arrow and select the Bluetooth menu. 
  3. Press the OK button. 
  4. Press the up arrow or the down arrow to select Bluetooth Status, and then press the OK button. 

The name appears next to Device Name. 


Pair with the Kiosk App

  1. From the main menu, press and hold the Settings (gear icon) button.
  2. Select Printer Settings.
  3. Select the Brother menu.
  4. Select Search Bluetooth Printers.
  5. Select the Select a Brother Printer dropdown menu.
  6. Choose the QL-820NWB printer from the list.
  7. When the printer is successfully connected to the Kiosk App, press the Generate Test Print button to send a test badge to the printer. 


QL-820NWB "Wrong Roll Type" Error

If a "Wrong Roll Type" error is being shown on the screen of the printer, try these steps:

  1. Press the Menu button.
  2. Press the up and down arrows to select Template Settings > Template Mode > Off in the settings menu.
  3. Press the OK button.
  4. The error message should disappear.
