Visitor Aware Security Scenarios
Visitor Aware customers who use InformaCast Fusion can configure an integration that sends an InformaCast Scenario alert notification to a pre-set list recipients you choose to add to an InformaCast Distribution List. This integration notifies those on the list if a visitor attempts to check in but is flagged for unauthorized entry under the following circumstances:
- Visitor with a denied-access court order
Example: co-parent who has been denied access - Visitor with allowed-access court order
- Visitor with a general ban
- Sexual predator
- Visitor on a watchlist
In addition, the integration notifies those on the distribution list when a visitor attempts to sign out a student for whom they are not an approved guardian.
This integration auto-configures a scenario notification in InformaCast. A scenario is a set of actions that include sending a notification. Scenarios are triggered by a person or an event such as a flagged visitor attempting to check in.
The integration allows Visitor Aware to fill in the visitor's name, and the flagged reason. For example, "Sidney Smith has attempted to sign out Samantha Smith from Crestwoode Heights Academy, and is not registered as an authorized relationship."
Prerequisites
Contact Singlewire sales@singlewire.com to request an InformaCast Fusion integration or learn more about InformaCast Fusion.
Ensure you have set up the following.
- Visitor Aware: Web check-in kiosk application to manage visitor check-ins
- InformaCast Fusion:
- A Distribution List. Name it something that makes it easy to identify for Visitor Aware, such as VA: Flagged Visitor.
- A Site. It is roughly the equivalent of a Location in Visitor Aware.
You'll match the Location and the Site in the Visitor Aware interface.
Steps
Follow the steps below to configure your integration.
From the Visitor Aware web application, go to System Settings > Settings > InformaCast Settings.
- Click the InformaCast button.
- Log in to your InformaCast provider. The integration will take you back to Visitor Aware and the Manage InformaCast Integration page. A confirmation message will appear indicating that you have logged in with InformaCast SSO.
- In the Manage InformaCast Configuration table, click the InformaCast Location dropdown menu and select the InformaCast Site that matches the Visitor Aware Location.
For example, if the name of your location is Florida Capital, and the name of the site in InformaCast is Florida Cap, you would choose Florida Cap from the InformaCast Location dropdown menu.
Note: For this integration, it is not necessary to select a distribution list from the InformaCast Distribution List dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the Configure InformaCast Integration Scenarios area. From the Security Scenarios section, click the InformaCast Security Alert List dropdown menu and select the name of the distribution list you created for this integration, for example, VA: Flagged Visitor (as we suggested in the Prerequisites section of this help article.
- Click the Create Scenario button. You will receive a success message.
- Once you have completed the integration, your security scenario should look similar to this screen capture.
The user interface now identifies the Distribution List name and the Security Scenario Name. You can click the Scenario Link if you wish to navigate to InformaCast and review or modify the details of your scenario.
Verify your Integration
Once you've configured your integration, we recommend you verify it in Visitor Aware, and in InformaCast Fusion.
