The Hall Pass Kiosk is a function in Hall Manager that allows students to request their passes from a designated device in the classroom. The Hall Pass Kiosk provides a secure, efficient way to manage student passes without interrupting classroom instruction.
This article identifies the requirements, considerations, and steps for Hall Pass Kiosk mode. For more information, see Configuring your OneRoster Connection.
Requirements
The Hall Pass Kiosk requires integration and synchronization between Visitor Aware and OneRoster data.
Considerations
Hall Pass Kiosk functionality:
- Designates a specific device, such as a laptop, Chromebook, or PC, as the classroom's pass management portal
- Secures the kiosk by requiring a teacher or administrator password to exit the kiosk mode
- Assigns the kiosk to a specific class to ensure that only students in that class can request passes
- Allows students to manage their passes by having them enter their student ID to request and complete a pass.
- Maintains student privacy by ensuring that students cannot see other students' active passes or destinations.
Note: For schools that use Hall Pass Kiosk mode, your settings control whether students must enter their Student ID, or if they must select it from the Student ID dropdown menu (which would be visible to all users).
- To manage the settings, from the left navigation go to System Settings | Student Management | General. You will find the Enable Student Search in Student Workflows? setting on the Manage General Student Settings page.
Note: The Enable Student Search in Student Workflows? setting also applies to any student field that requires a student ID. Those fields, such as for late arrival, sign-out, departures, etc., also become a student select menu.
To enter Hall Pass Kiosk mode, follow the steps in Managing Student Passes in the Hall Manager Dashboard (Admins and Teachers) in the Hall Pass Kiosk section.
